Does Rubio really believe the Trump narrative? That "No one really believes anything" is perhaps the nearest answer on the board when considering this Emperor's suit of no-clothes. Or an example of not holding the poison chalice when the music stops, as stop is will, but when? So I will go with "Tending to no".

I think Rubio's playing to Germany and proposing to bolster a neo-Nazi Europe. (Don't be ashamed of the past...one great civilization...I remember when the British used attending a concert of Beethoven equaled one great civilization).

As to Rubio's ethics, savvy, morality, manners - someone should tell him that a lady never crosses her leg at the knee, only at the ankle. He's not fit for purpose. Who raised him? Did his parents raise him to lie and toady? I wouldn't let him in the back door.

As to a centrist party, I recommend G. Elliott Morris' Strength in Numbers substack, - https://www.gelliottmorris.com/p/more-evidence-of-non-ideologues?r=a9pj&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web

See if you can make a lying, insulting toady like Rubio fit.

Barry, Dan called Biden a person who is decent, honest, etc. etc. and I refuted that assertion. I did not say anything about Trump, I was not comparing him to Trump I was comparing him to Harry Truman and Dwight Eisenhower who I I believe were not corrupt.I would agree that Trump is corrupt but I cannot agree that Biden is not corrupt. If you want to argue that the scale of corruption is greater: okay. If your position is that Biden is not corrupt: you are in error.

Barry, what is painfully obvious is that you cannot acknowledge that Biden is corrupt: why?

The ad hominen attacks attacks are very unbecoming and revealing.

Dan, with all due respect you are not describing Joe Biden: maybe Harry Truman or Dwight Eisenhower.

The Bidens operated an influence peddling business going back to MBNA the credit card company and Burisma

You cannot seriously be comparing Biden to the Trump boondoggle on steroids. Please. It would just be absurd. Stop.

Trump set up his family's crypto scheme so that he can receive billions in untrackable bribes, yet you think the Bidens' chicanery comes ANYWHERE CLOSE ?? How painfully stupid can you be???

If a person steals millions of dollars he is not corrupt and is a decent honorable person but if a person steals billions of dollars he is corrupt.

That is your definition of corruption?

I never said that Trump is not corrupt but to take the position that the Bidens were not corrupt is not reality.

I will not attack you personally : I will not stoop that low neither will I be intimidated by your ad hominen attacks.

Or Dan’s.

Morris, AOC and Bernie Sanders are socialists. They do not believe in a Republic based on private property.

Benjamin Franklin believed in individual rights and property rights (See the Declaration of Independence) not collectism.

Invoking Benjamin Franklin to support your position is quite ironic.

My question was: who would you rather be the policymaker and spokesperson for America’s foreign policy AOC or Rubio?

Based on your answer it appears you would want AOC.

I disagree. I think Dan Perry agrees with you. Keith

See my reply. No.

Keith Firestone's avatar

Typo collectivism.

Keith Firestone's avatar

Interesting that you had no commentary on the comments made by AOC in Munich no less.

That obviously is not a concern but if the Democrats win the House which you so fervently wish for AOC will be a leading policymaker and spokesperson.

Would you rather have Rubio or AOC?

a sincere question for you and your readers.

I am in no way suspect to supporting the woke left of the Democratic party, myself. But they are a minority of the Dems, whereas MAGA is a majority of the Repubs. So given this sad choice, I have no choice. But as I have written, I think we need a center party. Rubio can probably be in it, AOC not so much.

Keith Firestone's avatar

I did not see your answer when I responded to Morris.

I agree with you on Rubio but the Democratic Socialists are ascendant in the Democratic Party and that is cause for grave concern

When Benjamin Franklin was asked what kind of government had been created, he replied, “A republic, if you can keep it.”

After two years of Trump’s presidency, it is evident that another two years of his abuses of power aided by a compliant, do-nothing Republican House and Senate majorities, will cause lasting damage to the Republic. To keep the Republic, it is critical for all voters who value the American Republic to understand the importance of voting with the objective of flipping the House and Senate to Democratic majorities. Democrats will do what Republicans are afraid to do which to exercise the constitutional authority to provide oversight and hold Trump accountable for his abuses in order to prevent further erosion of democratic norms and institutions. Thus, it is not hyperbole to state this as a fact - the fate of our democracy is on the ballot - not AOC, not “the Squad” but the American republic. Vote Blue.

Ukraine was better off off when Obama was President (who did nothing when Putin took Crimea). Or when Biden was President who said a “minor incursion “ of Ukraine by Russia would influence our response.

They were much better for Ukraine.

There were some problems, without a doubt. But I think many people appreciated having a president who was intelligent, decent, articulate, knowledgeable, and not personally corrupt to the core. Also, who was likely to support, say, a renewal of the ban on assault weapons, not likely to try to ban abortions, and not likely to call climate change the biggest hoax in history or impose tariffs on everything based on whims or manifest an obsession with windmills. And destroy USAID and FEMA and the Dept of Education. Or threaten NATO allies. Or lick the boot of Putin. Who knows. Maybe I'm wrong.
